 18rg performance mods?

Hi all,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows some good performance mods for an 18rg (running in an ra23) that will give me some good bang for buck?
I'm planning on swapping the engine out later so I'm not going to go nuts with forgies, or over bore or anything like that ...
Currently still have the stock carbies, valves, cams etc...
but I do have (and god does this make it loud) extractors to 2.5" exhaust, and air intake.
Looking to spend in the order of $1000 - $1500 ??
If anyone can give me some advice and a rough price guide would be fantastic
