Jumpy Idle

Hi I have a problem with my 86kw 4ag AW11 MR2.
Seems that when the car gets really hot... like on hot days or after a flogging, the idle drops right down to 600rpm... Usually it sits at 800-1000rpm in normal conditions and about 1500rpm when cold. This only happens occasionally. Just a bit of a pain in the A... cause its idling so low sometimes I have to blip the throttle to avoid a stall on takeoff at lights etc.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this... Dicky sensor or something ??? The car has always done it in the 2 years I have had it.
