hobbs Regular Location: Epping NSW Registered: October 2002	Advice on licence suspension, dealing with RTA etc. Wed, 21 January 2004 02:14 Hey guys I got done speeding the middle of 2003, 103 in a 50 zone. I paid the huge fine and my licence was suspended for 6 months (automatic disqualification for excessive speeding offence) plus an additional 3 months (loss of all demerit points). I was informed in the letter they sent to me that i could elect a good behaviour period for the additional 3 months and just take the 6 months. The 6 months are due to end at the start of febraury so i called up the RTA just then to elect to take the good behaviour period and they have said that it is too late to make an election and i should have done so before the suspension period started. The letter i received says something similar to this, however it implied that i should make the election before the ADDITIONAL 3 month suspension period from feb till may. Basicaly the letter was ambigious. Either way, i don't see how this should matter because the good behaviour period doesn't start until feb anyway so i don't see why i shouldn't be able to make the election now!? anyway my question to you guys is, what should i do? i really don't want to have to endure not driving for another 3 months cause of some administrative bull***t. Should i right a letter to the RTA or maybe take it to court somehow? I talked to two different RTA guys on the phone and one said it should be ok and the second one said it is too late. thanks for your help hobbs [Report message to a moderator]
