Any performance increase you see will be negligible. It's mostly used to reduce radiated heat in the engine bay, in situations where this is a problem.

I just got some from repco put on my extractors as the heat was frying my steering box its good shit i think A brand that makes it is High Energy i got a skinny roll for $33 it did 1/2 of my extractors (ie 3 pipes)
I can touch the tape after i've been driving its hot but you try and touch some extractors after driving you'll get a nice burn
you can get big fat rolls for $90

The only problem you will have is that the tape causes the metal of the extractors to crystalise. This basically means that they will crack sooner. But the tape is a good idea if you have heat problems. You can try and rap the affected item in the tape (then cover in foil) as it help insulate (keep cool things cool inside and keep hot things hot inside). A foil rap works best when trying to keep items from heating up.

This can be solved by coating the extractors in paint before you wrap it and in theory it should stop the problem of them cracking.
