CelicaRA45....Thank you very much for posting incorrect information. I believe your intention was to help me with the sale!!!!
Please do not post wrong information if you do not know facts!!!
Quaife... under agreement built the gears for TRD for the T50 and most Toyota racers and enthusiast will be aware of this. Therefore this box will be sold to someone who knows exactly what to look for.
Genuine buyers who require info please post in future.
Cheers.
P

CelicaRA45 is correct!
both the 'TRD' boxes the TRD3 and TRD5 are helical cut, the Quaife box was originally done for Group A racing, it is still available from Quaife Engineering, all indirect gears are straight cut in the quaife box, not just 1,2,3.

IRA11Y... You are correct.
Anyway why is everyone refering to a Quaife box??? Maybe its because they dont have... or have never seen a TRD box. Probably just read about it somewhere.
This is a for sale thread....Please discuss your limited knowledge somewhere else. I am not going to bother explaining anything to ppl who seem to like to impress others with the little they know!!!!!!!
Oh by the way YES 5th Gear is 1:1....Shocking isnt it! I guess you learn something everyday....unless we assume we know it all!!!!

I have a few TRD parts manuals one specific to the AE86 and none of them describe a box like yours. I do know that there is a gear company in Malasia that has made gears for the T50 box so maybe its one of them.

everyone is refering to it as a "quaife" box because that's who did the straight cut box for TRD, it wasn't sold by TRD but was an alternative to the helical cut TRD3 and TRD5, it's like many NISMO GTR's used hollinger boxes......but it wasn't a nismo box!!!

as he says genuine TRD box like which part ,talking to my mates that use to work for Toyota Team Australia with the supra and the ae86 sprinters and they had quaifes only and my mate in NZ who is the distributor of TRD and HKS parts in nz and aus and he has never heard of it either and i no for a fact that trd only do helical gears for T50 and A50 ,and quaife do it for trd as well but straight cut ,no offence but its not TRD pro k ,might have trd stickers on it ,to make it rare i suppose

Guys, you obviously have alot of personal infomation on the various dealings and fittings of these and probably many other boxes - please start a thread in the "Tech and Conversions" section of Toymods, and let this guy sell his gearbox. Those people interested in this gearbox can then do their own research into it, and decide if they want to buy the box or not, cos at the end of the day, they have to be happy with their purchase regardless of the he said/she said conversation that's going on here. the validity of the box on offer is up to the buyer to confirm, and should be based on the sellers statements. This thread is not the appropriate area to discuss such matters, and it would greatly help the rest of us on Toymods to have a more concise, referenced outlet for this infomation.
