Auto chaser overdrive problems Mon, 01 March 2004 10:57 Go to previous message
Hey guys...my 1jz-gte cressie has been at an 'auto specialist' since tuesday now, and im starting to get pissed off. Its sluggish to change into 3rd after the conversion (driving manually is about the only way to make it work) and you have to get it up to over 60 whilst on boost and accelerating to get it to pop into 3rd. Overdrive is out of the question, it is a no show (even though the light displays on the dash) Had a guy i work with who knows the people at the workshop talking to me today, says they still have no idea Sad oh and it was flushed with type IV/new filter last month by these guys.

Anyways, i was juts browsing the soarer forums today and noticed a problem with the V8 (not sure how many people with TTs this effects) in that when you fit an apexi/other speed cut controller, the box immediatly will have the same problem as mine does now. It just so happens that my half cut came with a gReddy cut controller....and the leather shifter on the half cut was worn through which either tells me that this car has been driven manually a lot, or has done a hell of a lot more kms than the indicated 80,000...which is doubtful.
Anyone else have speed cut controllers hooked to their auto backed 1jz cressidas?

I DID talk to the techie when i has the box flushed last time about the problem and the convosation when like this.
ME: "i have a greddy speed cut controller in the car, do you think this could be causing the problem"?
HIM: "Nah, its a solenoid problem"

SO if this is the problem and these guys havent figured it out over almost a week...they better not be expecting me to pay for that much labour and not even have a solution...
Oh and btw, its an untouched chaser loom, not modified in any way apart from the SCC because who needs luxuries like cruise and TRC, i mean you want to drive the car yourself, not have a computer do it for you Smile
Thanks for any help in advance guys,
Cheers,
Troy
