Hey Toy-boys(bad taste, what!),
I compression tested a jap import 7MGE (thanks Big Red Dave!) I got good compression on 1 and 3 and bad the rest. Put some oil into the bad cylinders and got good compression in all but 1, which dropped for some reason. This would imply worn rings. The guys at Jap Performance were great and offered an exchange engine. But they said that the rings stick as the engines are sitting idle for so long, and the engine should be OK when run for a while. What do you think of that statement, and is there anyway to try to unstick the rings for accurate testing? Would cranking the starter for a while be any good? What about oiling the cylinders and letting the engine sit for a day to let the oil drain down? Thanks again.
