Hi all

Just wondering if anyone in our community knows of a good Australian datto 1200 ute -ish forum. The only reason im afraid to ask elsewhere is the flaming i may receive when they ask "what engine are you putting in it" ... blah blah.

Im a Toyota fan thru-and-thru you see ... and i have a spare 4AGZE + 614mm pully + T50 gbox sitting here ... I suppose my response to that question should be "brakes/suspension required for 1200 ute w/ 120ish kw)

All i require to get the unit on the road atm, is some serious modifications to the non existant sills... a fair bit of paint scraping, priming + small rust removal, new smaller steering wheel (so my lankyness can FIT IN THE CAR) some suspension work, a bench seat, some cheap stereo equip and a locked diff. Honest! Thats all! Smile The body is actually pretty straight.

Thanx to our guy Eric at Indooroopilly, I can get some 215/50R13 tyres for my kidney/jelly bean rims from the TA23, so that is all sorted for roadworthyness

The plan would be to get the car going with the stock engine (although I havent tried starting it yet, if it goes, i _might_ have to invest in some wyns stop smoke for the Safety Cert) and restore/modify it at my leisure.

I paid $100 for two new sills, but dont really want to have a hack at welding them in myself - it's a big job. Anyone know a gig that actually does rust repair/panel beating these days ... As opposed to simply replacing panels and paint matching? Otherwise, this vehicle will be my first go at major rust repair, and at painting a whole vehicle (A litmus test for bodywork on the 1UZA28) Oh, btw, im looking for a good paint system to use, anyone have a recommendation?

Dont worry, the ute is just a work hack, the UZA 28 will still go forward, but I need a car to get around in, pick up UZA parts, and possibly to use for work (if i decide to go back)

Any help much appreciated toyota folks!!! Smile
