Hi all,
i'm swapping my 1J for a replacement one, as mine is on its last legs..
Anyway, i've sourced a replacement engine, but the problem is that its been sitting a while and the guy who i'm getting it off (respected soarer bloke in the UK) recommends the following as he says the rings will now be dry of oil, due to it being sitting in a corner of the garage for some time...
"the rings will be ok, just dry until the oil get rounds.
what I can do is, take the plugs out, pour some engine oil down the bores and put the plugs back in, this will oil everything up, and this is a good thing to do when an engine has been stood for a while.
the only down side to this is, when you do start it up the oil that I have poured down the bore will burn and it will smoke like Bill Lewis for a while, maybe 10 20 minutes, but this isn't a bad thing, as it oils all the internal parts.
you let me know if you want me to do it, I can say that if it was mine I would do it."
So.. the question is.. is this a good idea? I'm not doubting him but he did say for me to get some other opinions..
