Joey didnt run at 100% all day, not sure of his times, but he only had one qualifying run before the transbrake was hooked up and then he decided to keep it that way for the bracket racing as he didnt want to break out.
I ran 8.66 as my fastest but also
8.70
8.73
8.79 and 8.80
in a full interior, stock turbo, 5 speed, mk3 supra.
Average for 5 best runs 8.736.
post your 5 run average...

The wagon ran a best of 10.3 and 10.33 one with massive clutch slip in 2 and 3rd and the other with massive amounts of wheelspin.
Either way I'm stoked I'll get the clutch fixed up and hopefully challenge the Black Supra at the creek and we'll sort out who is fastest.

comparing the traction at dubbo to willowbank is CRAZY .
what was the temp on your run it was 34 degrees at dubbo with a headwind
craigs commodore ran 8.1 at Eastern Creek with wheelspin
and 8.5 at dubbo
if your going to start quoting times on VHT on whats known as a HOT track for times then maybe you should race Jamies ute at Eastern Creek????
i have no doubt your car can run faster .But at the end of the day you can only rate a car on its performance on the day .If its not built right or ill prepared .then take it on the chin like a man stop being such a pansy about it
The track at dubbo represents a street race .
i bet if id given you my list of excuses for last year youd have told me to stop sooking about it .
all you need to run 12.49 again is a better gearbox .all i need is slicks and an aftermarket ecu .....where do you stop?????
all i need to beat 8thsin is new pistons ,custom plenum ,custom auto ,250 h.p NOS ecu and about 200kg weight reduction slicks a 9 inch diff ...oh yeah and a lots of luck ..and i almost forgot twin t77 turbos

Holy shit dude, what's up your arse today? All I said was my times at Dubbo were pretty crap compared to what I've done before... methinks you're reading a lot more into that statement than was ever intended! Suffice to say that Willowbank is 40 minutes from home while Dubbo is more like 8 hours... that has a pretty big influence on how you treat your car when you have to drive it home!
Yes the Supra could probably run a few tenths faster if I didn't care about breaking it, but at the end of the day I only got the 10th fastest time (which is hardly something to be bragging about) and a few tenths wouldn't get me anywhere near the front runners. So why be so aggressive about it? This is a non-issue, the times are there for everyone to see, I got soundly beaten by 9 other cars!

Probably the latter...for example...
7.96 Jason (yellowrolla).............12.19
Hasn't it run 11's on the track??

good work joel... are u keen to run again at the creek in a few weeks?? We can go head to head.
I ran 9.06 last year with that shocking missfire that took all of dubbo and then nearly 2 months more of my time to finally find i had a dead coil pack. I think andy had that same hassle this year but was lucky enough to have someone bring a coil pack to him on saturday.
Its good to see times matching up from the previous year. Did you find traction a problem at eastern creek??
I'm hoping to run low 13's in current form and hopefully into the 12's within a month or so with planned mods

i think some of you guys have missed Pauls Point.
his calculations only reflect the time you would have got if the dubbo 1/8 mile trach was extended to 1/4 mile.
Same surface, same conditions, just longer.
It is not meant to represent times at any other track.

|
now you say
Quote: | the Supra could probably run a few tenths faster if I didn't care about breaking it
|
a 12.49 would have been an 8.2 1/8th mile this not a few tenths difference thats six tenths
sometimes what your trying to say and what you post is actually saying are two different things
Most HIGH POWERED cars run around 1/2 a second quicker on a full on drag strip compared to dubbo
Quote: | at the end of the day I only got the 10th fastest time (which is hardly something to be bragging about) and a few tenths wouldn't get me anywhere near the front runners.

Imagine how much speculation there will be when the track is full length and not a half track There will be another 200 metres to ponder
Fact - Dubbo's traction sux.
Fact - 3T's rock the world. Weight per cubic inch would make Joel's RA28 pretty tuff company.
Fact - 1/8 mile is fun - but it's not a drag strip.
Fact - these forums are frequented by experts of varying degrees of abilty - or ineptitude.
Fact - I am here to have fun AND make friends (and apparently enemies, some times).
Fact - Some of the above facts may not be factual
Fact - now that WSID is a real drag strip, we can all get 60', 330' 660' 1000' and 1320' times and even a 660'MPH. Norbie you are permitted to get your's from Willowbank (I am sure that this will permit you some form of advantage).
Then we can get back on these forums and go completely nuts (calculators will be melting) .
Fact - did I mention 3T's?
None of it will change the reality that I need to work to race
Oh well I had fun writing it (I really need to get out less) .

I managed to dig up my Willowbank timeslips from last year. Celicamad was right on the money, a 12.49 1/4 mile is indeed an 8.2 1/8 mile, in my case at least.
It's worth noting my car essentially had a single-spinner diff back then, so chances are I'd be able to improve on that pretty ordinary 2.2 second 60ft time now that I have an actual LSD. Only one way to find out though... I'll be going out there again as soon as I have a gearbox that's up to the task!

Good idea official timecards from any dragstrip are more than welcome simply scan and send to me .
we have have a best E.t section on the webpage .
at the end of the day if you compare willowbank to eastern creek to calder or wsid then its all pretty close
hopefully 1/4 mile at Toyota Nationals soon
Norbie
yeah 1/4 mile calculations are ONLY a guide to give people an idea but in most cases they are pretty close.
Just look at it this way whatever you ran at dubbo .if you had traction probs like many then your likely to run considerably quicker on a proper drag strip

116.67mph is pretty big topend for a 12.49s pass. that sort of speed is more reflective of a high 11. but with 2.2s 60ft times, you are gunna need 120mph. celicamad can recommend sum terrific tyres for you to run sum 7000rpm launches off......
also try the ol' supra racing trick and fold in yer mirrors - apparently it is good for 10th's secs

Hey Norbie, if you made 263 rwkw at a toymods dyno day then howcome you arent Killerwatt King ?
The records page lists a JZA80 (24? rwkw) for holding the record at the very same event ?
Too lazy to look up the "dynoday history" thread, but the records page should be accurate.
