You can buy a normal 2JZ-GE pump from a Lexus dealer, it doesn't have any of that hydraulic crap and it bolts right in. Apparently it's also possible to remove the hydraulic mechanism from your existing pump with a bit of fiddling, but I'm not sure on the details.

Yeah, Peter (TRD Kingswood) removed his by modifying the back of the water pump. He is always on Toymods so will probably comment on this himself.

On VL1JZ's 2nd motor (1JZ ex Soarer) it doesn't have the hydraulic fan and has a conventional water pump fitted to it. There must have been some models with hydraulics and some without.

On a related note, after re-positioning the 2JZ in my engine bay I think there's just enough room for that fricking huge hydraulic fan. I'm going to have a crack at bolting it in this weekend - should be fun! Smile

thats right.. a soarer 1jz water pump will fix all hassles straight away. Or.. just loop the fluid like i did. My pump is fine after 8-9 months of hard driving!

Heres The pic u asked for to show you the water pump some would never see this part looking at the motor as it is not to readily accessible to get off (best done when engine out!!!)
You have to remove the cam belt so in true style you might as well replace the front crank seal , cam belt, water pump then be left without the pulley on the w/p ?????? i need a solution...
A pulley solution.. No pull ME solutions......

On the left of the pic at the top is some sort of solenoid then below that is the cut hose wich is the low pressure oil and below that you can see a bolt half screwed in that is the high pressure side while to the right is the w/p that goes behind the cam belt.. I would not advise looping them as there may be a pressure buildup and the innards go wild......
