4ag tacho hookup

Where do people usually hook the tacho up to when they do a 4ag conversion.
With my KE70 i just hooked it up to neg side of the coil as i usually do.
I had a thought that maybe this maybe causing my cold start problems(see other thread).
I wouldnt usually think it would have any affect but i forgot to hook the tacho back up the other day when i was playing with coils and its been starting a little better since, not perfect but at least it starts.
