the TT132 struts are not the same as the RT132

the TT132 struts are the same as RA23 and RA40 struts, in other words not the correct ones u need for the conversion.

If u have found a TT132 keep the engine crossmember, it is a rare item that can be used in RA23 and RA40 celicas.

as for the steering arm. i have no idea what u mean. but they will bolt into your TA23 without any problems.

Partly wrong! Smile At least TT132 with 3T does have right struts.

its a corona wagon with 2tb
so how do i tell if they are the right one
so if the caliper mounts are 90mm apart
strut length is 430

they will be the same length as my ta23 struts?

I beg to differ here an ask why should TT132 struts be different to RT132 struts ?
Both fitted to the same series Corona's in Japan, the 'T' had 3T engines, the 'R' had 18R series motors.
And, I have RT132 struts on my RA23, with the Hilux/Pug/Corona conversion.
Having said all that I think there is a problem with XT/RT13x struts into a TA23, to do with the steering knuckles on the TA23.
So I think you will need to changes the steering knuckles.
The XT130 was the Aussie made Corona, don't know if it went to NZ.
Calipers mount bolts holes need to be 90mm like you have said.
Strut length should not be a problem for the xA23, its only the TA22 that you have this concern.
Mitch.

yeah, i'll confirm that you'll need the right steering knuckles to put the struts in your TA23, your stock ones (or my ones at least and my old RA28 ones were the same) have a dowel spacing of about 85 mm and the corona ones have a 90 mm spacing. still not sure which steering knuckles to use but if you find the right ones then let me know.

corona one's might work, the corona i got my struts from was scrapped before i realised i might need the knuckles

cheers
Matt

yoda voice: "there is no why"

who knows why the struts are different on the TT132 THEY JUST ARE.

best way to find out if they are the strut u need is to look at the caliper.

the TT132 will have a single piston caliper the same as your TA23 the problem with this strut is the caliper bracket is part of the dust plate instead of the actual strut as well as the bolt spacing will be wrong.

the RT132 will have a twin piston sumitomo caliper. thats 1 piston either side of the disc, and u will see "sumitomo" written on the outer part of the caliper. the mount will be part of the strut and is the correct one.

as for the issues of putting them into the TA23 im sorry i cant help u with that, i always thought the TA23 had the same front end as the RA23, hence bolt right in.

If the RT132 comes with 2-pot calipers, why does everyone go to all the effort of tracking down the hilux/pug stuff to go all the way to 4-pot?

i must have a different TA23 to you guys cause the Xt130 struts bolted into my car, no issues at all with the steering knuckles, and thats from the horses mouth

the pad area is smaller on the sumitomo 2pot. its about the size of the piston.

the hilux caliper pretty much is twice the caliper than the 2pot with the least amount of trouble as hilux caliper will bolt right on.

if u wanna run vented discs with the 2pot u have to get spacers made to widen the caliper. thats spacers cut and drilled, extra channel seals, longer bolts, longer pins, and adapt the clips.

both will need to skim the peugeot disc off a few mill in diameter.

the only benefit of the 2pot is it will fit behind 14inch wheels that dont have lots of room on the inner side.

I stand corrected about the TT132 struts, my apologies.
My experience is with the RT132 struts into an RA23.
I have heard of a few people who have found problems fitting
Corona struts to a TA23, but I'm glad at least one TA23 owner found it was fuss free.
As for why the Hilux caliper upgrade and not just run the Corona two spots, no real reason. Plenty of people have upgraded their RA23/28 to just the Corona struts with the standard brakes. Nothing wrong with that.
It was because the Corona stuts were built up off the car, I went all the way with the conversion in one hit, and added the Hilux calipers.
BTW, a have a pair of RT132 twin pot calipers for sale now. Best offer.
Cheers,
Mitch.
