Where to mount EGO sensor?
|

On the factory ST205 dump pipe the EGO sensor is about 25mm away from the turbine of the turbo.
On my new dump pipe should I mount it in the same position or am I able to mount it down the dump pipe a little?
Any ideas? Thanks

Before the turbo is the best (IMO). I think that you can mount it behind the turbine tho.

Before the turbo? I've never seen this done.

Sorry Cool 1 - EGT sensor is usually before the turbine.
Should have thought more before engaging the typing fingers.

if it's single wire O2 sensor then close to the turbo - otherwise may gases my vary too much in temo. but if it' a heated unit (3 or 4 wire) then further on is OK.
i was going to put a 4 wire at the bottom of the headers on the 5ME. with suitable 12V source, proximity to engine (for heat) not as much of an issue.
on the 1G, the O2 sensor is just at the join of the two turbo dumps - maybe 4-6 inches from the exh turbines.

Thanks chuck. The sensor I have is a 4 wire heated item.

Shane, don't mount the EGO sensor too close to the SENSITIVITY sensor or the CARE-O meter or the EGO may get bruised

since it is heated, you can put it a fair way from the turbo.... a few feet would be fine..
theoretically the heater provides enough heat to keep it hot at idle on an NA car, so i would be confident putting it further away fromt he turbo.

Great, I might do that. I only wanted to move it about 8 inches down the pipe anyway.

it will most likely get too hot and die a quick death. put it after the turbo.
