still for sale.
the car is having problems downshifting into 2nd gear due to some idiot who test-drove the car without me being present. the problem will be rectified if i can find some time, otherwise the price will be slightly negotiable to compensate.

Are you willing to sell the rims?
I can swap you a set of stockies and pay cash adjustment?
Or if you wanna sell rims how much would you sell for?

Sorry i havent got back to you earlyer
i was going 2 give it a miss as you where firm on the price
and 6 grand is my limit 2 spend the trans was a majour conscern but the biggest worry was the rust because it wont pass a roadworthy and we reckon it going 2 cost a absolute minium of $1500 to fix

$1500?? on what?
how will the rust not pass a rwc? theres a few bubbles starting to show on the tailgate and mininal amounts on the rear guards. no gaping holes.. just surface rust under the paint which can be replaced anyway. i couldn't even get clear pictures of these with my camera.
now let me see..
jdm tank - $200-300
decent tyres - $100 (rear tyres are barely roadworthy)
new tailgate - $100
gearbox repaired/replaced - at most, $300
..and thats if you're being picky. are you sure your dad was a mechanic? i could have changed all that if you preferred, but either way, it's your choice.
i think i might remove the fuel setup myself and save myself $800 for my next project.. then spend $100 on a shit intank ae82 or vl pump which everyone seems to prefer.

Ah, yes. I remember now.
I guess im reluctant to mount it there because of what might happen in a frontal accident.

Theres no way i can get a road worthy in castlemaine with the rust in the wheeel arches because its structual i suggest you take it to a panel beaters and get a quote on it being fixed
and youll see what i mean
but its entierly up to you if you want to sell the car or not
ps the surge tank wasnt an issue for us a we could of easily remounted in a safer location

Sorry about the OT shin.
ta22: i was just wondering where he put it, just to get ideas of the sort of space i have to work with. Currently the possibilites are endless when there is no engine in the bay. But when its filled i think ill have a harder time fitting it in.

are you blind? theres barely enough rust in those rear wheel arches to raise an eyebrow. the lips are not structual.. they have nothing to do with the framework.
if you don't want the car, fair enough.. but you shouldn't go making uneducated judgements.
as for the quote, i can get it repaired at my cousin's panel shop for free. he just couldn't be bothered doing it because it wasn't worth bothering about (trying to match the colour and respraying the rear quarters for a tiny bit of rust).
anyway, i dropped by my mechanic today and was quoted $200 for a new 2nd gear syncro.
so.. i'll accept $5700 if anyone wishes to buy the car as is. otherwise i will be getting it repaired as soon as i can find temporary transport.
takai: theres plenty of room in the bay, not much above the diff though. fwiw, if it's wired correctly, the fuel pump should cut out if the engine stalls (e.g. in an accident). my efi pump and tank are mounted on top of the chassis rail so if you crash hard enough to bend the rail into the engine.. you're probably f@$ked anyway
if you plan to drift, the cheapest solution would be to have an engineer gut the fuel tank and add the baffles and pump off a holden item.
JDM-086: if you're interested, just come see the car. the rust-spots dont show up very well on camera (look at the first post).

I've seen this car on road and at some of our club (Exclusive) meets
It's a very nice car and in pretty good condition for it's age!
Love the wheels though..
Would you be willing to part with your rims for a good price?
Or perhaps consider trade with stockies and cash adjustment?
Cheers!

I'll once again vouch for this car...
a great... GREAT... example...
i didn't even notice the rust until lou pointed it out...
the engine bay is the cleanest i've seen in melbourne, no cracks in dash from memory or on any other apolstry...
apart fromt he stick 2nd gear and the wheels... this car was so clean...
how come it hasn't it sold?? what don't ppl like about it? it looks so crazy!
i didn't buy it as i didn't have enough money at the time... and i bought something else

there is a crack above the dash.
sorry _Why_ , i never did have time to ask about a rwc.
$450 ta22: if that 6k offer does not include the gearbox repair, give me a call (i.e new tailgate/rust removed from rear arches/paint the rear end).
JDM-086: yeah i can have the 2nd gear syncrho replaced, but it's an inconvenience at the moment as it would take 1-2 weeks.
if anyone has an eg civic, i'd be interested in a trade.
