Retourqing after new head gasket Sat, 15 May 2004 15:54 Go to previous message
If you replace a head gasket I hear it is good to retorque the head bolts after about 1000kms. On a 4AGE or similar layout is it possible to do this retorque without taking out the cams again? I have a spare head minus cams, but where the bolts are located it doesn't look like you could. A mechanic I know said that there should be slight cutouts in camshaft that allow you to get a socket in there. Seems like a big job doing a head gasket if you have to pull out cams again after 1000kms.

Cheers
