Whats the diff' with 4AC and 4KC?

Just wondering if anyone could tell me, all i know at the moment is the 4K was available in my KE38panelvan and the 4AC was available in sprinters, i'm sure many other vehicles as well. The go is my 4KC has a stuffed welsh plug and i was thinking of just dropping another motor in for the time being, would a 4AC bolt in without too much troubles? I ask because everyones selling 4A's and nobodies selling 4K's!
Any help will be greatly appreaciated
