Just wondering how hard it is to get the tie rod off to put on a new boot. You would undo the locknut while still connected to steering knuckle right..once this undone does the tie rod just unthread really easily after you disconnect tie rod from steering knuckle.

These guys sell a cone that sits over bolt, but when I rang they wanted $22 for 2 of the cones ( i told them I only need one though). Do you think the boots would have to be stretchy or could you use that cone with any boots you get from any shop?
Just wondering to invest in the cone depending on how hard it is to take tie rod off ( I have one for the CV boots which has saved some time)
