Sprinter handbrake cable- need help on tightening!!

hey all. my handbrake is nearly bloody vertical when i pull it on, if i leave it any lower the car starts to friggen roll lmao.
i crawled under the car yesterday and had a quick look and couldnt find a bolt or something similar on the cable coming out of the floor or anywhere along whwre it runs to the rear of the car. my dad had a look too and he was just as stumped as me as there is nothing there that you can tighten so the handbrake lever doesnt have to be pulled so tight.
im guessing someone has tightened there cables before, can anyone enlighten me as too where, or how to tighten it. there was a silver cover where it came down thru the floor, but that seemed to be permanently connected to the floor, so yeh i have no idea.
