Thirst the shocks, now this, the engine does drip a bit of oil here and there, but the guage has gone crazy. before this happened, the guage climbed straight up once you start the car, now its alway the way down, and when your reving hard, the niddle goes up half way and when you stop at the lights it drops back down. Is it my engine or the gauge? Sad

Is the gauge electric? Maybe the connection is loose...
Or if it's mechanical, perhaps there's a blockage?

What are the units on the guage?

What number does it read at idle, and what is it when you drive it?

Oil doesn't cost that much, do an oil change as ed suggested!

I'm guessing it's electric, and if the oil change doesn't change things for the better, check the wire on the oil pressure sender.

I'm guessing it's the factory gauge... Maybe you could try borrowing a mechanical test gauge from a mechanic and actually checking the pressure, that is of course after replacing the oil+filter!

My 162 did this - firstly i put an enigne oil cleaner thing thru (wuns i think) then i did the oil change. I also cleaned the contacts on the oil pressure sender. It still wasnt the best but mysump was leakin so i put a new one on. Only goes down when im low on oil now (which happens coz opf another leak)
