DIFF GUTS wanted for a lame AL-25 TERCEL 9-83 Tue, 01 June 2004 05:02 Go to previous message
Can anyone help out with a crown and pinion for a AL-25?
My Tercel[late 83 model] was bought with a 'fault', which was thought to be in the gearbox, but was found out later to be in the diff. The ownwer decided to ditch his beloved Tercel after he found out what a re-cond box would cost him. i think he had a minor coronary and bought a Hyundai instead[chicken!]

It's really a beaut old beast but apparently the drive trains are infamous for weaknesses in these 2/4WD cars. My 'turtle' has only done 183,000km. one owner. oil changed every 5,000 km since new. motor is in beaut nick for its age and the body is ab mint. i'm looking forward to getting it out on the road so the 80's volvo drivers can point at it and say, gee thats ugly!
anyway, the gearbox has been checked out and is AOK. Now, all i got to do is pick up the diff parts [in decent nick hopefully].
So who is gonna ease my diff misery?

thanks folks.
