I used to think that i had some special psychic ability to known when a speed camera was coming up ahead (it proved tru on more than a few occasions). Funny how the one time ur not consciously speeding I get caught....
I was just coming home from work tonite on Waterworks Rd outbound through the settlement rd intersection, and a cop in a squad car parked in the bus zone across the did a big screaming u-turn, put his lights on and came after me....
I didnt know what it was about, thought he must hav been after someone else, it felt like i was going really sluggishly.... but apparently it was 81 in a 60 zone. Shows what being inattentive can do to u...
Bad thing was i delivered a pizza near there 5 mins beforehand and the cop car wasnt there, and after he fined me he went off in a different direction, so i don't know why he was stopped there in the first place (he didnt hav a speed camera sign out or anything).
It really irritates u when they insist on being a smart arse tho. I was doing my best to be polite and curteous, but he was trying his hardest to be a dickhead while hammering home the "you just doubled ur stopping distance argument". He started off by asking "were u watching ur speedo?", so obviously i couldn't resist replying "no, i was watching the road". Then he went on about how he suspected i was one of those guys who are professional racers with their CAMS and think they are better than everyone else. Then he moved to how he knew my name and my car and thought that he had pulled me over last week, then called me a liar when i said it was my first ever time even talking to a cop.
Haha, then i really had to laugh when he started on about the physics of stopping a car and he got real pissed when i knew all the answers to his questions about kinetic energy formula, and what 60 and 80 km/h are in m/s (im doing an engineering degree).
Guess it was best i didnt inform him that he was parked in a bus zone, started driving without his headlights and didnt indicate when he pulled out. Not to mention spinning his wheels and crossing a solid white line.
But yer, after all that he wrote me up for 80, not 81... which saved me from loosing my p's. I was definately thankful, although it did limit my anger towards him (don't know if thats a good or bad thing).
Anyway, thats my two cents (its actually prolly a bit more than that...). Hope you guys have better luck than me...
