squealing when i turned the key

when i was at the shop today i started my car up and it wouldn't start and made a squealing noise like what happens when you turn the key and it's already started?
what is it and how can i stop it from doing it again?

I think it has something to do with the gears on ya fly wheel or starter motor being worn. It is a problem to do with one of those two things anyway, cant exactly remember what. Cheeers mate hope this helps.

Its the bendix spring in your starter motor, when the flywheel spins faster than the stater it pulls the ring gear away from the teeth on the flywheel, usually this results in you needing a new starter as i dont think there is a replacement for this spring part.
