GT30 - dead Fri, 25 June 2004 13:08 Go to previous message
Just Friday last week my GT30 died; the reason was traced back to a lack of oil due to a blockage within the system.

I was driving to work when the turbo made a groan and then a metal on metal rattle Sad I made a phone call to Brendan (Grace Motorsports) then pulled the turbo off on Sat morning ready to send it to GCG for inspection. I disconnected the oil feed line to discover that the oil was pooled up in the line and it seemed that it was not passing thru the turbo.

I sent the unit to GCG where they diagnosed that the core had no oil passing through it and this had caused the bearing failure; the oil feed hole within the housing is 0.8mm in diameter and it had obviously become blocked.

Brett from GCG did everything within reason and then did some more to see that I was looked after and that the turbo was repaired in good time.

I have to say that I am very happy with GCG's service and I have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone in the market for a new turbo, waste gate, or other turbo support system products.
