toynado Regular Registered: May 2004	the ultimate 22re head Sat, 26 June 2004 10:02 i'm gonna re-do my spare 22re head has anyone tried larger than engnbldr.com o/s valves? they are 1.2mm o/s intake and 0.9mm o/s exhaust as i remember and am using his 'mild efi' 270 cam i'm thinking i'll fill in the top swirl above the intake valves with epoxy, as i see this as a wasted space in the flow pattern which would cause eddies and turbulence which would not be helpful for performance and then if the 'choke point' of the intake where it bends down towards the valve is not reduced down to 65% of the volume of the entry of the intake port at the manifold joint, i'll fill in the floor of the port up to the choke point till it is 65% this is supposedly the magic number to create the best 'velocity porting' this seems highly effective on this long stroke motor and maybe would get rid of the flatness at the top of the powerband ? i'd fill in the exhaust port floors too if it didn't require welding aluminum or i could ask the dOOd who's gonna weld up the coolant port erosion how much he'd charge it's gonna be milled .020" that's a lot that won't cause timing chain tensioner problems, will it? with nitrous and as much hp and torque i can squeeze outta this baby eventually with new cam, intake manifold, throttle body and afm, and aftermarket efi system it won't be optimized for n20, but i won't be using it that much it's a 88 daily driver 4x truck or can i go much larger valves without losing much down low in the revs ?
