The little pipe that goes between the cam cover and inlet pipe has broken due to age. I read that this is essentially the only difference between the slightly earlier 1jz and the slightly later 1jz's. (twin turbo - notice no 1st gen and 2nd gen Very Happy)

So I want to know how I should go about the replacement? My friend has a setup like the first pic on his RB20 but hasn't had it long enough to comment on its use. So which is better and why?
