MX83 transmission question. Sat, 10 July 2004 15:02 Go to previous message
My auto is doing strange things... I have searched the site and google about kickdown cables and whatnot but need to know more.

Basically the problems are this. The transmission seems to shift when it should under moderate to low throttle application. The 1st problem is that it gives a jolt when shifting from 1st to second. More of a jolt if I accelerate a little quicker.

The second, more worrying problem is that when I hammer it or accelerate hard, the transmission will allow the engine to bounce off the rev limiter before it changes gear. It will stay up at redline bouncing for about 2-3sec. Shocked Not good.

I have been told to look at the kickdown cable. Are these likely results of a poorly adjusted cable? What else could it be?

Final question. What box would I have in this car and is it a ECT?
