First of all I would like to say what a great forum this is great info and a lot of great cars
I have been trolling through the web in search of information on the 3tgteu motor, as this is the engine currently in a car i am looking at buying.
Some unanswered questions I have though are:
Reliability? They are getting on a bit now? I know they are imported so how do you owners find the issue of parts etc?
The car i am looking at is running the standard ct20 turbo but has an intercooler and is running 10psi. Stock boost is 7.3psi correct? Forgive my newbie-ness but is this a lot of boost for an engine that is relatively stock? I would rather be on the side of caution and have reliability than tons of power for the sacrifice of reliability.
Also, the car it is in (mk1 escort) is running standard diff still can i expect to be constantly blowing diffs even just in daily driving or will the mighty mk1 diff be ok as long as it is not raced and used for burnouts etc?
Any information and opinions you might have is welcome as I really don't want to make any rash decisions and buy a car just on impulse. Thankyou
