Hi people... I'm hunting for a LSD for my AE86. I bought a disc to disc a while ago with the factory lsd and now i'm lookin for mechnical LSD. For starters, how can u tell the difference between a zenki and kouki LSD... and also which one is which? i'm not too sure what i have...What are the main differences?
Also can someone give me some feed back on different LSD's... i was thinkin of a Cusco 1.5 way but i heard it to be too noisy... Heard Trd ones arn't that good and wear out easily... Can someone varify this please. The LSD is mainly used for going quick and good drivability (ie targa events) not all out drifting... i'm hoping for repiles from people who's actually have/had TRD/CUSCO/KAZZ etc. LSD's... Cheers!

zenki=24 spline axles
kouki=25 spline axles
not sure if there are other differences. I have kouki axles and a cusco 1.5 way in my 4agte sprinter. It's pretty noisy between 80-100 on 1/2 throttle but other than that its good. It's ok in a straight line & twistys...there's a fine line between traction & tail happiness in second gear but i think thats got more to do with the fact that ive only just had the engine/diff put in & am still getting used to it but overall am liking it
ive heard kazz have pretty good units

as it goes:
cusco - awesome 'mz' plates, crap housing (no oil flow), a little noisy
trd - good oem plates(same as stocker lsd's), awesome housing(strong and good flow of oil), fairly quiet
kaaz - great plates, housing has tendany to crack, very quiet
tomei - good plates, crap housing (fuck all oil flow in/out), noisy as hell

Cheers for the replies fellas... That was very helpful... Some more question though...
Ae86drift have u really used all those LSD's before?
What are the rebuilds like on those LSD's, i'm guessing just cuz of the friction surface differences the TRD's would need rebuilds more often..?? is that correct...?
