I have two 12" subs in the back of the peugeot, obviously boxed and all. The people who installed it didn't do a very good job, but never the less, they work. Now until recently, these subs were making decent bass, until the box became dislodged due to some exciting driving. This meant the box could slide around, and soon enough wires started to pull out and it slid around. So I eventually pulled it apart and tied it down properly and replugged in all the wires. Now the box is in tighter than when the installer did it, and it's sitting marginally closer to the back seats. The curious thing is that now it doesn't make anywhere near the bass it used to. With the boot lid closed that is. When I open the boot lid, the bass comes back good and strong, louder and harder than ever before.. Now,WTF is going on?? I can't see that it's getting a better earth or something when the boot lid is open, because it just doesn't make sense, and this phenominon didn't occur prior to the box being re-arranged.
My thoughts are that for some reason because the box is closer to the back seats, when the boot lid is closed, I get some sort of anti-nodal position that I didn't get prior to the movement, and when the lid is open, the anti-nodal position is removed.
What are peoples thoughts?
