I just change the oil and oil filter every 5000km. Every 20000km it goes to someone who knows what they are doing to check over things I miss. When I think of it I flush the coolant and replace it...thats about it.

Yeh thats basically all i do. Oil and filter change every 5000kms. Check fluid levels. Usual stuff. Check ignition timing and spark plug condition. Check air filter. Maybe some injector cleaner. Check brake wear if im bothered.
Stuff u probably do already.

yeah looks like everyone just does the basics. its all u should really need to. unless something unexpected pops up. it would cost way to otherwises and be fairly pointless

Dont forget coolant... always overlooked..

Check your coolant (ie if its toyota it better be RED)..

you can get testers that test the strength, usually you want from 50/50 to 60/40 is the standard ranges in most cars. Make sure the overflow bottle is at its (MAX) mark and the water in the radiator appears clean.

Check radiator cap to make sure seal is still good.. have a close look at the top tank (most toyotas are plasic from the late 80's onwards) for signs of stress/cracks/seeping.

Also check thermostat housing and heater hosing.
