The rebuild of the 20v for the racecar will consist of:
bottom end: hot tank, shave head & block, thin gasket (any suggestions?) new rings & bearings.
Top end: 3 way valve job, polished chambers, burr removal of ports - but not polished, cams with approx 20deg more duration (any suggestions???) cam verniers to tune them right, leave the throttle bodies alone.
Extras: Take the EMS and coil packs off the 16v and put them onthe 20v to run distributorless, GZE dizzy pickup for signal, stock extractors to 2.75" to 3.25" after collector - resonator only, no muffler. Dyno to sort out cams as well as timing & fuel. soft cut at 8400, hard cut at 8600.
Its going into an offroad buggy weighing in at about 870kg dry. We need a fair amout of mid range grunt to pull out of tight corners on the dirt, hence no wild cams. It'll be an engine for national races - up to 500km per race at finke, griffith, goodiwindi etc.
Does this sound like a reasonably powered & reliable setup for a 20v? any comments or suggestions would be really appreciated!!!
