gday mate,
i dont have a engine to sell but im really sure that all R series engines are compatible. ie. are all interchangeable between gearboxes that house R engines. the only thing that you would have to modify is maybe some electrics.
i have an ra40 which im doin up, and i got the 18r-gu. cost me $100

a 18rg wont bolt straight in. In most cases a front sump from an early corona will be needed and some engine mount modifications will also be needed. As for gearbox it will bolt up but possible radiator hoses will be different. If u overcome these problems then it should be a good swap.

hmm will these parts be easy to come by ? Is that the only major problems with this engine or is there going to be some nasty surprise when i get it ? Wat is the problem with the existing sump ? is the crossmember in the way ? Wat year corona or model corona do you surgest?

Thats all the main parts u will need. most of all is the stuffing around on the crossmember mods and running new rad hoses or mounting a new rad. Parts are as easy to come by as most others u just pay more for these. Sump is from a 78ish rt104/118 coronas but u need to use your sump id be guessing. U could see if a ra40 crossmember will fit and if so you can use a mid sump which come on most 18r's these days.

So your surgesting either, a new crossmember from an RA40 or the Sump from either the 21R or the old skool corona? Would an 18RC sump fit the block, also wat sort of block is the corona sump off ? Engine mounts are no problems and a radiator hose shouldn't be the hardest either. Could i use the stock radiator (21R) i got at the moment or do u think it won't b enough ?

U use a sump from a 18rc out of a corona. all 18r sumps are interchangable but not 21/22r sumps. Dont just go buying a ra40 crossmember. Im only suggesting it may fit due to its a A series chassis. Your rad will be good enough solong as you can run hoses nicely. If the ra40 crossmember fits you will most likely be able to just reuse the sump that u get on the engine(whats the engine coming out of anyway)
