Well, after what seems like a lifetime of looking, planning, researching and not having any money- i have finally got the cash and found a ra28 for my long time coming restoration/ conversion.
Have organised a car and its arriving on wed, im pretty excited. Currently has 18rg/ 5sp but i will go down the 1g-gte (1988-) road when i get serious on it.
The car has some rust in the sills which i read is a common problem. Have thought about getting fabricated sills from craig vayne fabrication as described in other posts.
Im happy to take on this job as im lucky to have a dad who is a highly skilled welder and is willing to give up some of his time. However, he hasn't had much experience with cars and body/ structural work on them. If anyone who has done this job or has and thoughts on how to tackle this job i would love to hear about it. Apart from knowing that there is a factory weld at each end of the sill, near the guard and near the rear of the door and that the welding will need to be done with a MIG or TIG i really dont know how to go about this job.
Appreciate any thoughts. Cheers Tom
