Inlet cam noise

Hello, hoping someone might be able to help out with this problem I'm having on a 3t-gte engine. There is a slight rattling noise that sounds like it is coming from the inlet cam. It is more noticable when you rev the engine and as the revs are falling, around the 2000 - 1000 area it is most promenent.
If you press on the end of the dizzy shaft the noise dissapears. I guess when pressing on the dizzy it is putting some pressure on the inlet cam. I have checked the caps and they are all tight within spec.
I've heard there might be some backlash or something in the cam? That there is some allowed movement back and forth but maybe mine is outside spec. Does anything think this could be it, and how to test this theory? Or any other ideas?
Thanks
