One 1G-GTE Flywheel solution. Wed, 18 August 2004 05:53 Go to previous message
Hi Guys, the 1G-GTE and 1G-GZE flywheels are getting hard to find. One solution, which will be trialled this week, is to utilize a "3Y HiLux flywheel". The 6 crankshaft attachment bolt holes need to be re drilled. Leave this to an engineering workshop! Cost app. $100.00, for drilling. A small adapter ring also needs to be made for the centre of the flywheel, as the 3Y cranshaft end is larger than the 1G. Supply the machinist with the 3Y flywheel and the 1G Auto flex plate, and he can make the ring. The Flex plate also serves as a guide for the re drilling process.
A huge advantage in using the 3Y flywheel, is the abundance of decent clutch kits available for the Hi Lux.

regards Chuck.
