88253 is the same as the EFI head, minus the more conservative cams and the reliefs for the injectors on the intake ports.
I have one of these heads too, but im using the 88250.

Sorry to but in, I recently purchased a 18RGR with head number 88230. Do you know any thing about these?

early model, small valves small ports but phatest cams of all the 18R-G's.
There is MASSIVE amounts of info on the 18R-Gs, if you actaully did some SEARCHING on the internet

and the whole engine only cost me $100
