Machining Wheels Sat, 21 August 2004 12:34 Go to previous message
Hi,

I've just added bigger brakes to my car and found that the wheel now _just_ fouls the inside of the wheel rim against the caliper.

I want to get the wheels put on a lathe and machine out about 2mmx2mm worth of material from the inside of the rim. I realise the wheels should be balanced after this.

They're alloys.

Is this possible or safe, or should I give up now? I'll be calling a wheel machining shop on Monday but I'd be interested to hear your ideas.
