Intercooler piping advice ( front mount ) Sun, 22 August 2004 04:25 Go to previous message
Needing some tech help with a question i have re intercoler piping

Im going a frontmount now on my Gt4 - Core is a 600 X 300 X 75 bar and plate unit with GTR style end tanks ( three inch outlets )..

My problem is i have a 2.25 inch outlet on the turbo - and 2.5 inch inlet on the intake manifold

Now - I know i can get the right adaptors ( silicon joiners ) in 2.25 to 2.5 inch to come off the turbo - and a 2.5 inch to 3 inch to go in and from the intercooler, then a 3 inch to 2.5 inch reducer to the inlet manifold from the part suppliers down here ..

Do these adaptors cause any great hassles with things such as turbulance + lag that i should be aware of - and/or should the transition periods from size to size be stretched over the piping length ?

Also how should the piping go from size to size - particularly from the turbo ?

Im using stainless piping and bends - as secondary info - and claming with the higher quality hose clamps ( not radiator type )
