hey lads, first post ever on these forums, looks pretty smick Grin

basically i'm 17 on my p's, finishing my hsc in under 2months, and will be hitting a part-time job straight away. i've already got some funds to get me started, so i'll be looking to get a 2nd hand car asap.

ive been thinking of getting a commo as they are cheap + low maintenance if they are in good condition, so im leaning towards a model from around 1990-1995. but two problems: fuel consumption + most commo's are automatic and im after a manual
then there's smaller cars and im favoured towards celicas, i rate them a lot, ive always been a fan. but do you think i can get a 1988(thats when the newish model started yeah?)-90 model for under 5-6 grand? cause thats most likely going to be my limit + its only my first car so im not looking for anything huge.

you think this is possible? what would be your advice to someone looking at buying their first car (when looking at caryards etc for best deals).

cheers
