To TVIS or not to TVIS....

that is the question...
ok i don't think its been discussed for a while so i'm interested in getting opinions
i'm rebuilding my 3sgte and i'm looking at the dodgy looking TVIS and wondering if its gonna be worth ditching...
as i can figure on a stock engine it serves a decent enough purpose but as i get more ambitious in my mods it becomes more restrictive than useful...
any opinions? anybody removed the TVIS with ill effects?
