Who has or knows of a GZ/MZ20 with JZA80 16" Wheels? Mon, 30 August 2004 23:40 Go to next message
If anyone can get back to me regarding these wheels fitting GZ/MZ20 Soarers please do so ASAP.

I bought some JZA80 16x8 stock Supra wheels to find that the front wheels scrape on the control arm. I originally thought it was just the rubber, but it is actually the rim itself.

These wheels look like they fit ok, but in actual fact are very dangerous if it were to scrape at high speed.

I know I have seen many MA70's and GZ/MZ20's that have these wheels and was wondering how you could fit them without scraping. Wheels spacers will protrude the wheels out of the guards too much as they are already just inside.

Has anyone got a quick solution for me as my car is at the mechanics ready to fit my MA70 brake upgrade which needs larger 16" wheels.

Thank you.

Just whack on a 10mm spacer plate
Unless your car is bumpstopped it won't matter if they stick slightly outside of the guards... if I could find a photo of my 18's from the back you'd see what I mean Smile
But I haven't tried jza80 rims on my car, I've got 16x7" xA70 rims on the rear... dunno about the front tho...

http://www.boost.org.nz/pics/SoarerBeast/looney_soarer.jpg

You can see there how the fronts stick out... and the xA70 rims i've got on the back...

Damn thing still needs to be lower tho :\

Danish, JMS have 20mm spacers with studs for $110 each, but if you are having issues you can borrow my 300ZX wheels for a couple of weeks as my car now has new rims Very Happy and they are just sitting at home

Thanks guys!

I think JZA80 offset is 45mm or 35mm?

I think I might need to borrow those wheels.

Indian: It can't be +50mm for GZ20's, since JZA80's are 50mm and these wheels scrape.

Yeah, but std Soarer wheels would be 7" (guess here), so even if the offset is the same for the wider wheel, the backspacing is bigger by 12.5mm hence that might be the difference

Cheers

im am dead sure soarer offset is 50mm

the width of the rim will also play and important role , stocker soarer rims are 6.5-7 inch i think ,

i tried 38mm offset with 8 inch wheels and the fronts stuck out by an inch or so , not happy , the r4ears were just sitting insde the guards

reading ur first post 50MM with a 8 inch wheel is defenitly going to hit the suspension , control arm or whatver is near the wheel

problem u havehere is not the offset , but the width of the wheel is too much

maybe use a spacer

I have Soarer TT wheels on my GZ20 offset 50mm. rim width 7"
I have Supra JZA80 Supra 16's on my JZZ30. Offset 50mm. rims 8 & 9"
No problems.
My stock GZ wheels have 50mm offset stamped on them. 6" rims

Thanks acmtt, so the reason why they are hitting is that they are an inch too wide at the front for the same offset.

Looks like I'll have to sell these wheels then.
