Mx62 Cressida, Cold Start Probs, Fueling Up. Thu, 09 September 2004 13:47 Go to previous message
Today i got into the cressida after work every is normal... the auto choke or cold start system seems to stick on as per usual ive gotten used to it.. anyway down the road about 2km's still cold the motor starts to surge a bit and blow excessive black smoke.. so i pull over too a rest bay..
At idle it was blowing black smoke.. and idling rough betweeen 400-600rpm.. give it any throttle and it would blow even more black smoke from the exhaust and wouldnt rev over 1,500rpm sounded as if it had a rev limiter.. lol

May i add when warm half temp on the gauge the car runs fine.. blows a bit of black smoke when you boot it but you can live with that.. Fuel economy is like i own a N/A Rotor.. 200ish k's to a full tank.. i think the best i ever got was 250km's i was stoked..

Could my AFM meter be the problem ? Could the oxygen sensors in the exhaust be faulty ? I know i havent got any throttle body leaks..

I am a 1st year apprentice mechanic so i do understand mechanical terms.. and have a good idea on how to do things just need an idea into what to look at first Smile

Thanks Smile
