hi folks,

since taking my carby inlet manifold off again, I've changed my mind, and deciding to do the EFI now, ASAP, rather than clean/recon the carby.

I've started by pulling my EFI manifold apart, eliminating the EGR, fuel warmer, and the associated coolant line in the throttle body and outlet next to the thermostat. Its laid out nicely awaiting a jerry can of petrol so I can clean the sections and of the carbon/coolant scale.

Injector question: how to tell between +ve and -ve on the injector's plug terminals? (stock 22RE green nozzle injectors) I was going to run 12 volts to them while squirting with a syringe some degreaser/carby cleaner through.

If anyone who has done the 22R -> 22RE upgrade can comment on my plan please do:
1 - clean and reassemble EFI inlet manifold
2 - external EFI fuel pump, new EFI fuel hoses/clamps, new EFI fuel filter, new relay for ignition on power to fuel pump/injectors circuit via computer
3 - resolder the loom halves together (chopped at firewall by wreckers), test relay, plug terminals to injectors, plugs to computer, & wires to fuel pump... if OK connect computer/injectors/fuel pump.
4 - EFI distributor (are they the same as non-efi?)

Start her up?

I was hoping with no oxygen sensor or air flow meter connected it would just run from computer maps... so I can then go to my exhaust guy, get extractors taken off, nut with oxygen sensor thread welded to a runner. Then can connect O2 sensor.

I wanted to get a 7M-GE air flow meter (or is it a mass air flow meter?) for its larger diameter (as I have collected parts for turbo upgrade next year) since I dont have an AFM/MAF at all yet.

All opinions/advice greatly appreciated. I'm also posting to toyota-mods@cyberauto.com list so apologies if anyone is seeing double.

regards,
Dave.
