I was having trouble getting my 18rgeu to start so i borrow a set of carbs and put them on. I got the engine to start but it was real rough and would not idle at all...I checked the timing about 5 times (cam timing included because ivge put a new HG in it) and it was all fine. i then checked spark. I removed certain leads and tried to start it. I removed 3 and 4 at the same time and started the engine and there was no change to it in the way it was running. I then put them back on and removed 1 and 2 leads and the engine would not run at all. but there was spark there. I then noticed what looked to be fuel coming from the throats of the second carb(cyl 3 abd 4)so i thought to much fuel was maybe flooding it so i put the original mechanical pump back on but no change still. On closer inspection i found that i think it is actually oil coming from the carbs. So i did a compression test incase the rings were gone and found 1 and 2 cylinders were about 120 but 3 and 4 were 0. i then decided to remove the head since im about to rebuild it anyway and found the intake valve on the third cylinder was stuck open and appears to be bent. Would that being stuck open coz the oil to be coming out of the carb? The most oil was coming from the throat on cylinder 3. I still cannot find any reason for cylinder 4 to have 0 compression though. Whats the best thing to do with the valves. Replace the bent one or just replace them all? Im about to turbo it so if theres some gains to be had by using other valves id like to know if not ill go back to original. What would cause the valve to bend. Would the bent valve be the reasoin for oil coming out or could it just be fuel? The tops of the pistons were dry with no oil present. and help would be great on this.
Also whats the centre shaft called that has the 2 cahins running of it at the front and runs the oil pick up. I need to replace my bearings for it but am unsure exactly what its called and repco also dont know.
Also whats a thrust washer?
