Hi fellas,
A question that I am considering and want to know if it has been done before.
I have a 3T-C engine in my 74 TA22 celica. I just relised that it is a push rod and not a dual cam like the 2T-G. I have an option to get a worked yamaha head from the 1600 with twin side draft carbies.
I have been told this is possible to put onto the 3T with timing cover changes and sprockets? i am assuming is for the twin cam nature of the new head? or am i an idiot?
Has anyone done this work before. I talked to the mechanics that i usually go to and they aren't too familiar with the change and haven't done it before. They told me to ask around and find out about valve clearances, timing, compression to avoid overheating and so on. I thought it would give a bit more power by increasing compression and so on, plus the twin carbies....
If anyone has done this I would be very greatful to know the details as to whether or not it is possible. On a bit of a budget, but all the parts are only gonna cost me 300....so that is pretty good. Also..... is it difficult to change over? I think all the intake and exhaust manifolds are the same....
Info would be great. Sorry for such a long winded story. Just need to know before i buy the parts. Cheers guys,
crok.
