OK,

I'm at 99,200km, I've lost my licence for 21 days so I figure...hell..it's time to servise the old 1J.

I have popped the hood and it looks like a bloody nightmare to get the engine out. I need to put a new spiggot bearing in (coz the bastards neglected to when i got the new clutch) and I am seriously looking at the twin pipe mod.

a) Will i need to re-gas the aircon, or can i slide the engine outside this piping like my old 18RC. Jeez, i wish it was as easy as that car...I had the 18rc out in 30minutes.

b) Is it easier to shunt back the gearbox and fit the bearing that way, and break my back while doing all the servicing.

c) Is it possible to change the timing belt with the simple removal of the radiator etc.??

d) if I decide not to do the twin pipes till a bit later, can I access the turbos with the engine in, or is it really too much effort.

All feedback on this project is welcome as I wish to spend as little time under the bonnet as possible.

Pete
