Welcome d00d. Wink

If I don't have the Celica GT-Four shell but all that's required to run it, does that qualify? Surprised It's worth a shot anyways... Razz

for your initialtion into the Gt4 club you have to blow a head gasket and rebuild the group A into a WRX eating EVO killing machine Wink

coolant drain plug.. on the back of the block under the intake manifold

super pain to get to.. if you are only doing a coolant system flush I really wouldn't bother with it mate if the servicing is uptodate

Well that's me 100%. Sad Coolant still bubbling on shutdown, and I'm not even pushing the go pedal that hard anymore. I'm making it so it's barely boosting, but it still doesn't like it.

I have 2 radiator caps - one for the water-air intercooler and the other for the radiator. Two separate cooling systems. Why is the one for the intercooler at a (normal) barely-touchable temperature when the engine is shut off after a drive, and the radiator's cap is only warm? For your info, both caps are 1.3kg/cm².

Also has anyone noticed a slipping belt noise before, like when you're in traffic conditions and you have to stop at a set of lights quickly... a squeal noise comes from the engine bay, and it's a belt slipping. Could it be the alternator belt? Also bear in mind that when it's happening it's in wet conditions and I also don't have a top timing belt cover on yet. Confused

Help appreciated. Smile

What ECU are you running? I heard the standard ECU has an engine braking type of system on it when you decelerate quickly

Re: Welcome me to the GT4 club :) Sat, 02 October 2004 14:20 Go to previous messageGo to next message
It's still running the stock ECU for now... this is a belt slipping, but I don't know which one.

I went to BEL Garage today and they did a pressure test on the radiator, and according to the results (pipes were still good, no leaks anywhere), they deduce that it's a BHG. Mad If this is the case, when I go to get a new one, I'll do what I planned on doing before, which is getting the head O-ringed and snagging a 2mm copper head gasket. Smile Who sells copper head gaskets for the 3S-GTE?

andrew.. that's a freaking joke mate.. after it's just been rebuilt... Sad mate I just feel SO bad for you

hopefully that will be fixed free by the peeps who re-built it????

edit: you gonna get a second opinion on the colant issues I hope.. it could be just thermostat... fluid movement problem..

A BHG not long after rebuild - dude they either stuffed up or having no temp guage and flogging it straight after it being built didnt go down well at all ..

Hopefully when you get it done again - the temp guage is working + they give you the RIGHT run in procedures - i know as you do fixing BHG's in these arent cheap + are a apin in the arse ..

Just quickly, did the CS front bars come with any mesh in them? Mine has had silver mesh put in which looks kinda ugly I reckon, but when I pulled it out, it looked wrong? Confused I am thinking maybe they had black mesh in them? If so I might just spray it black

they did come with black mesh and possibly silver im not sure - youll soon tell if its genuine if the mesh has moulded brackets welded to it and doesnt look dodgy ..

Also if you have the genuine bits DONT CHUCK THEM OUT!

they are extrememly expensive and the top centre section is no longer available

Nah this doesn't look original, it has a few proper bracket things but the mesh looks like it's been cut out...also the small bits on the lower left and right are held in with some gluey silicone shit.

Looks like I'll be spraying it black Smile

Hehe didn't realise you could make it do the 'sleepy eyes' headlight thing by quickly turning the headlight control back to the 'stay open' setting just as they are retracting! Thought you had to modify it or by a proper kit. Smile
