ive seen them at jb hi fi heaps of times, in melbourne, but im sure it wouldnt really vary between states. they arent cheap, about 100 bux pair i think.
i dont think they are really hard to make, probably takes a weekend or so. they is a few tutorials up on thsi site, and on twincam.org about how to make them.

$100 for a pair doesnt sound too bad. Im looking at just spray painting some door pods out of a VS Senator to suit which would be about that too.

$20 worth or MDF, a jigsaw and a spare afternoon. Why on earth would you pay $100+ for something like that?

AutoBarn has them. Car audio shops would as well.
But ya why would you bother spending up and over $100+
I spent about $50 and made me own with map pockets and they look the ducks guts.

You could try getting the front pods and brackets from a VR/VS commodore door trim and adapting them to fit? They're 6" standard, but a 6.5" will fit easily. From memory they mount flush with the door framework (ie, no hole required in the door frame). You'd probly pick up a map pocket with that too.

Took me 15 hours to shoehorn 6.5" splits into AE102 front doors. No amount of MDF spacer rings or angle grinding could save it, I had to mount the woofer by glueing/screwing a mounting ring to a thin piece of MDF and glueing the MDF to the door trim

MDF, fibreglass, bog and your imagination. Either paint direct or vinal wrap them. doesn't cost a lot. the ones you buy are way overpriced.
Remeber you want the pod to vent into the door, so you may still need to cut a hole in your trim.

I thought youd be trying to seal the pods? I managed to fit my 6.5" splits straight into the door drim. It doesnt touch anything inside the door but it does produce a LOT of vibrations which means it sounds terrible.
Saw some VS door pods today and they are basically what Im after except being that length they wont fit between my seats (not original) and the closed door. Gonna have to attempt to make some.
Ive made up the pods of mdf but Im not sure about the fibreglass. I thought I read somewhere that you stretch a stocking over the whole pod and smear the fibre glass onto that?

with all the muckin round making my one
i'de say best way to make one would be get 2 A4 size bits of MDF
cut them both so they splay in and up, thats a tricky angle but with the right tools and marking it out while its still rectangular would make this a lot easier
then cut your egg shape out with jogsaw, then cut ur hole then wrap it
thats how im going to do mine!
