Steering hub extenders. Wed, 08 September 2004 17:00 Go to next message
Hello..

Just wondering if anyone here knows where to get a streering hub extender? - To give the steering wheel more reach. I found some on a Japanese website some time ago but cant seem to remember where. I'm planning to go a group buy if anyone here is interested.

*help.. my knuckes are hurting from the indicator stalk*

I know technotoytuning have em, but they are out of stock (the new ones are a couple of weeks away) so i've decided to look for a Japanese soultion.

Thanks

James

Inspected and fitted.

Thanks your you input fellas. I finally got this fitted to the car, and the adjustment is quite good with the length stepped in 0.5mm increments (have to take steering wheel off for this. 2mm steps and you can leave the steering wheel on). Quite decent.

Soo much more comfortable driving in a more relaxed and natural position.

Now just waiting for that seat rail to rock up..

How do these things work?
And what do you do with the wires running to the steering wheel, like horn, etc?

Hi wagonist..

The main ring (bolts to the boss kit) has 2 grub screws (180 apart) that lock on to the grooves on the threaded center piece.

There is another locking ring that goes close to the main ring to supply some tention on the threads.

The horn just plugs in. The wire from the boss kit seems to be long enough.

I don't have a single wire going to my steering wheel.

There's a 6 or 7 pin plug on each side.
Airbag, cruise control, horn.

Hmm...

I'm not too sure how to interface the any new wheel with all that. But if you can get your steering wheel on a boss kit, this add on shouldnt be difficult.

Hub looks awesome.

They Are SpecoMeter ones, Part #541-02

http://www.speco.com.au/images/PAN541-01.jpg

Got them from autopro when i got the Specometer oil temp and preassure guages, not expensive.

BTW im too lazy to take the dash off to make the wiring neater.

Cheers

Im 6"3 and the seat has to be back and down so i dont hit my head on the roll cage,
i measured last night there is 140mm from the indicator stork to the back of the steering wheel so its just right for me.

As for the boss kits im sure its the same as an AE92 Corolla so most auto shops are able to get them.
